The Picture of Dorian Gray

The artist is the creator of beautiful things.

It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors.

All art is at once surface and symbol.

Diversity of opinion about a work of art shows that the work is new, complex, and vital.

We can have in life but one great experience at best, and the secret of life is to reproduce that experience as often as possible.

You gave her good advice and broke her heart.

The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame.

The critic is he who can translate into another manner or a new material his impression of beautiful things.

It is silly of you, for there is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.
